I watch as the last of them run away, then turn and walk back into the building. It's time for me to get back to work.
Inside, the pressure is mounting. I can feel the heat of the fire on my skin, and the sound of the explosions is ringing in my ears. But I can't let myself be distracted now. There's too much at stake.
I head down into the basement, where the prisoners are being held. I know that they're terrified, but I also know that they're our only hope. If we can get them out alive, we might stand a chance against these monsters.
I unlock their cell doors and start leading them towards the exit. The way out is blocked by flames, but I'm not afraid. I'll find a way to get us through safely.
