The Archangel of Death
“What is lacking cannot be counted”
“And as knowledge grows, grief increases”
In the beginning, there was only darkness. The absence of light created a void that could not be filled. And in this darkness, two beings were born: the Archangel of Life and the Archangel of Death.
The Archangel of Life gave birth to all things living and breathed life into the universe. The Archangel of Death followed behind, harvesting the souls of the dead. It was a balance that had been maintained for eons.
But as time passed, man began to learn and grow. And with knowledge came grief. Grief for those who were lost; grief for what could have been; grief for what would never be.
The balance began to shift and the Archangel of Death grew weaker while the Archangel of Life flourished. In desperation, the Archangel of Death made a deal with man: in exchange for one hundred years of life, he would take one thousand lives.
And so it was done. For a hundred years, man lived and prospered while the Angel of Death harvested their souls like wheat in harvest season. But at the end of his deal, man realized what they had done and they were filled with horror at their own actions. They went to plead with the Archangel of Death but it was too late; he had taken his one thousandth soul and payment for his debt was due.
