The Mukhagidai Leave For D’ni

“We will deny the craving of the wicked”

“The mouth of the wicked conceals violence”

The elders had made their decision. It was time for the Mukhagidai to leave. They would deny the craving of the wicked and find a new home in D’ni. The mouth of the wicked concealed violence, but they would not be deterred. They would build a new life, free from the corruption that threatened to consume them.

They left in secrecy, just as the first expedition had done centuries ago. None knew their destination, not even their own families. They traveled by night, guided only by the stars above. The journey was long and perilous, but they persevered.

At last they reached their destination: an ancient city hidden deep within the earth. They were safe at last.

They had all heard the stories. They knew what was at stake. But they couldn’t help themselves. They were drawn to the power, the promise of dark knowledge that lay hidden in the pages of the Book of D’ni.

And so they came, one by one, to the great city on the edge of the desert. Drawn by greed, or lust for power, or simply a thirst for knowledge that could never be quenched.

And they were punished. Each and every one of them was punished for their sins against D’ni. Their cities were destroyed, their people slaughtered. The few who survived were left to wander in exile, cursed to never return to their homes again.

But even that wasn’t enough for the vengeance of D’ni. The great city itself was sealed away, lost forever in time and space. Cut off from the world above, abandoned and forgotten by all but those who still lived in its shadow.

Until now. Until you come seeking answers to questions you should have never asked. Answers that will only lead to more questions… and more death.
