The Council of Light’s Outer Chambers
“The faithful have vanished from among her men”
“We will hear the plea for mercy, when they cry to us for help”
The Outer Chambers of the Council of Light have always been a place of solemnity and respect. But today, there is something different in the air. The faithful who usually line the walls are missing, and in their place are men begging for mercy.
“Please,” they cry, “help us! The faithful have vanished and we don’t know what to do!”
The Council debates what to do for hours, but eventually agrees to send someone into the city to investigate. They choose one of their own – a young initiate named Damien – to find out what has happened.
Damien enters the city with apprehension. He knows that whatever has caused the faithful to disappear is not going to be good. And he is right – as soon as he sets foot in the city center he is attacked by a horde of creatures unlike anything he has ever seen before.
He fights bravely, but eventually falls victim to the creatures. Just before he dies, he sees a figure in black robes standing among them; watching him die…
