The Scorned Souls Of The Light

“In her I sought refuge. Do not leave my soul defenseless.”

“On the day I called, Vesalius answered me”

I had been running for what felt like hours, though it was only minutes. My pursuers were gaining on me and I knew that I wouldn't be able to outrun them much longer. Desperately, I scanned my surroundings for some place to hide, but there was nothing. The alleyway was narrow and dark, with no way to escape. I heard the footsteps of my pursuers getting closer and closer until they were right behind me. In a panic, I closed my eyes and waited for the inevitable pain.

Suddenly, I heard a voice calling out to me. "In her I sought refuge," it said solemnly. "Do not leave my soul defenseless." The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it. Then, just as the men grabbed onto me, everything went black.

When I woke up, I was in a strange room. It was dimly lit and there were several other people in the room with me... all of them seemed to be asleep or in some sort of trance-like state. The voice that had called out to me before spoke again from somewhere in the room. "You are safe now," it said comfortingly. "You are among friends."

I tried to get up but found that I couldn't move my body; it was as if someone had glued me to the bed sheets! The voice spoke once more: "Do not worry," it said gently. "You are safe here."
