The Undone Remnants of Tum’ulosus

“For if we remain silent, we will be like those descending to the Pit”

“My heart is full of burning pain, and no soundness remains in my body”

We were descending into the Pit. The Undone Remnants of Tum’ulosus. My heart was full of burning pain, and no soundness remained in my body. We had been betrayed by those who we thought were our friends. Our only hope was to descend into the darkness and find the source of the corruption that had taken hold of our home.

The air was thick with the stench of death and decay. Everywhere we looked, there were bodies – their eyes wide open, staring blindly into nothingness. Some had been torn apart, their limbs scattered like so much rubbish. Others seemed to have simply melted away, their forms reduced to pools of black ichor.

We pressed on through the carnage, seeking an answer to our questions. And then we saw it – a figure looming in the distance, its form writhing with unholy life. It was a creature from nightmares, a thing made only of teeth and claws and hungering need.

There was no time to hesitate. We fought with all our might, but it was too strong for us. One by one we fell beneath its onslaught, until only I remained standing… alone against the beast.

In that moment I knew that I would not survive this encounter – but I also knew that I could not let this evil thing triumph over us all. So I charged towards it headlong… and met my end in its snapping jaws.
