The Dead Beaches Of Tokuganira

“My flesh is afraid, but I am not”

“In that moment, I felt such warmth, such loss”

The Dead Beaches Of Tokuganira. I stand at the edge of the shore, my toes peeking out over the water. It's so cold, but I can't bring myself to move. The waves lap against my feet and ankles, a gentle reminder of what lies ahead. My flesh is afraid, but I am not. In that moment, I felt such warmth, such loss. Ahead of me lies an adventure, a chance to do something great. To become someone new.

I take a step forward into the water and it claims me instantly, pulling me under with its icy grip. I fight against it at first, but then I let go. Surrendering to the current, I allow it to take me away from everything I know. The darkness surrounds me and soon all is quiet except for the sound of my own breathing. And then... something else joins in. A deep thrumming that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere all at once. It's ominous and beautiful all at once and it sends shivers down my spine.

I don't know how long I drift like this before finally coming ashore on a dark beach littered with skeletons. Some are small enough that they must have been children while others are larger than any human could be. They're all broken and decayed, their bones picked clean by who knows what kind of creatures roaming these shores in the dead of night. As my eyes adjust to the darkness, I see movement in the distance. More skeletons picking their way towards me across the sand.
