The Ever Reaching Steppes

“Her father never said sorry”

“They knew he’d never be back. He never thought of them again.”

She was young the first time her father left. Just a child, really, and she didn’t understand what was happening. All she knew was that her father had to leave - he had to go find the Ever Reaching Steppes. And he never came back.

The years passed, and she grew older. But the pain of her father’s departure never went away. She always hoped that one day he would come back, but deep down she knew he never would.

And then one day, out of the blue, a letter arrived from her father. He finally explained why he had left all those years ago, and why he had never come back. The Ever Reaching Steppes were real - and they were calling him home.

She could tell by the tone of his letter that he was happy, finally content after all these years searching for something that didn’t exist. But it still broke her heart to know that he was gone forever - this time for good.
